History:
Little is known about this machine. The machine was designed and built in South Australia and comprised a metal fuselage and the framework of a cycle mounted thereon, a pylon above the cycle seat and a drive to the two-blade helicopter rotor and the two-blade tail rotor. Power was to be provided by a man pedalling the pedals of the cycle which would drive the main rotor and tail rotor. It is pretty definite the machine never flew in this form. It was for some years on display at the Birdwood Motor Museum in South Australia but has been moved and its present whereabouts are not known.
In 1965 reports indicate a Mr W Smith of Melbourne, a former champion cyclist, was developing a man-powered aircraft / helicopter which he planned to take to and fly at Swan Hill during 1966. It had a 6.09 m (20 ft) rotor blade mounted on a three-wheel pyramid shaped structure and this could be the machine in the Birdwood Museum.
