History:
Early in the 20th century Mr A W Jones went to England and obtained his pilot’s licence. On his return in 1913 he imported a Caudron G.II fitted with a 26-kw (35-hp) to 30-kw (40-hp) Anzani engine. A number of flights were made around Warwick, Rockhampton and Brisbane in Qld; later around Newcastle and Maitland, NSW, and Kalgoorlie, WA in 1914. He later offered to sell the machine to the Central Flying School at Point Cook but the offer was not taken up.
Earlier in 1911 he constructed, with Mr W G Brest of Warwick, Qld, a monoplane of similar appearance to a Bleriot XI fitted with a four-cylinder liquid-cooled engine. This made a number of flights of up to 91 m (100 yards) and about 6 meters (20 ft) high but was found to be underpowered.
