History:
Australian Aircraft Works (AAW) of Donvale, VIC has been involved in the construction of ultralight aircraft in kit form for some years. One of the series produced was the Aeromax 1700 Karasport which was made available in the early 1980s fitted with engines in the 37 kw (50 hp) to 75 kw (100 hp) range. The wings were available with three aerofoils, a high lift, the general purpose Clark Y, and the sport variant with the NACA M6. The wing was of conventional wooden construction with hand-made wood ribs, thick spruce spars and fabric covering.
One example appeared on the RAA register as a Bates Wok Wockett Mk II, was registered 10-1177 (c/n KS211) on 11 March 1993, and was fitted with a Rotax 582 engine. Others have been built and flown in Australia under RAA regulations.
