History:
William B (Bill) Barber designed and built a single-seat, all-composite, mid-engined light aircraft powered by a Rotax 503 engine. It was similar in appearance to the revolutionary Taylor Mini Imp, which was first introduced in 1975, which similarly drove a propeller at the rear of the fuselage through a shaft behind the tail.
When completed it was registered as the HA-1 ZK-FOU( c/n MAANZ/063 – later 409). This model was first registered on 11 August 1987 and is said to have made a few short hops but the builder has stated it was not flown and, after a little ground testing, was withdrawn from use in July 1995. It was last known to be stored on a trailer at Mandeville. This aircraft may well be one of a number 0f Taylor Mini Imp kits imported to New Zealand and was renamed by the owner/builder.
