History:
The Extra 200 was a high-performance two-seat aircraft designed and marketed by Extra Flugzeugbau GmbH in Germany, aimed at the market for unlimited-category aerobatic aircraft. Smaller than the 300 series, it offered greater economy of operation whilst retaining the flying characteristics of the larger aircraft. Power was provided by a four-cylinder Lycoming AEIO-360-AIE engine driving a composite constant speed MTV-12 three-blade propeller. Fuel was housed in two wing tanks and fuselage tank. It was certified under FAR Part 23/JAA. The wing structure was of carbon composite, the empennage structure being of carbon/glass hybrid and composite, the spring undercarriage being of fibreglass.
First of the type seen in this region was known as an Extra EA-300/200 which became VH-XRB (c/n 021) to Stick & Rudder Aviation Pty Ltd of Georges Hall, NSW being operated by Freestyle Aviation Pty Ltd from Bankstow, NSW from December 2007.
