History:
The Fisher Celebrity was one of a number of kit type light aircraft which was originally built by Fisher Flying Products from its facility in Edgeley in North Dakota, the Company later moving to a new plant at Woodbridge in Ontario, Canada.
The Celebrity was designed in 1989 and was aimed at the American Experimental – amateur-built market in the ultralight class. Construction was of wood, with the wings, tail and fuselage covered with fabric. It had interplane struts and inverted “V” cabane struts. It hae no flaps, and the undercarriage was a tailwheel unit which was bungee suspended.
A number of engines have been installed ranging from the 48 kw (65 hp) Continental A-65, the 63 kw (85 hp) Continental C-85, the 75 kw (100 hp) Continental O-200, the 86 kw (115 hp) Lycoming O-235, units the Rotax series and units from the Jabiru 2200 and 3300 series.
It was described by John W Conrad in 1992 as having “control, harmony, and mix just right. Rudder, aileron, and elevator match perfectly, and blend into a very natural control feel”.
Examples have been fitted with the Australian-built Rotec R-2800 radial engine of 82 kw (110 hp) and an example with this engine has been completed as 19-7592 (c/n CE 134) , followed by 19-6900 (c/n 1 – ex N69GM) in Western Australia.
