History:
The Skyboy two-seat light touring and training aircraft was available in kit form from Interplane SRO in Letiste Zbraslavice in the Czech Republic. The Company commenced operations in 1992 and produced two basic light aircraft in a variety of forms known as the Skyboy and the Griffon.
The Skyboy prototype first flew in 1993 and production commenced in the following year. The Skyboy was the initial variant with a Rotax 503 or 582 engine as standard, but this was replaced on the production line by the Skyboy S, which was reinforced for higher weights, had a Rotax 582 engine, and had a choice of wingspan. The Skyboy EX was introduced in 1999 for European and Australian customers. The Skyboy UL was a lightened variant to meet US FAR ultralight regulations, having an empty weight of 225 kg (496 lb).
The aircraft had a high-mounted constant-chord wing with the tail mounted on a boom. Structure was of aluminium tube and fibreglass, with fabric covering. The undercarriage was of the non-retractable tricycle type. The cabin was fully enclosed and the seats were adjustable. The wings could be folded for ease of storage and hangarage.
A number of engines could be installed, including the Rotax 582UL, 912UL, 912ULS, 462, 503 and 618, Hirth 2706 and the Verner SVS 1400. Standard fuel capacity was 42 litres (9.2 Imp gals).
A number have been built in this region, one 19-3550 (c/n 034-98-1999) being fitted with a 60 kw (80 hp) Verner 1400-cc engine. Others included 19-3258 (c/n 035-98) registered in November 1999 with a Rotax 912 engine and 19-1936 (c/n L3-04) registered in March 1999 with a Rotax 582 engine.
