History:
The S-9 Chaos, produced by Rans Inc of Hays, Kansas, USA was introduced to the Company’s range of light sporting aircraft in 1986. It is a mid-wing monoplane designed for full aerobatics, being fully inverted capable, and is able to accept engines up to 75 kw (100 hp). Construction is of all-welded chrome-moly tubing, all welding in the kit being carried out at the manufacturer’s plant at Hays. Kits include the engine, propeller and basic instruments. The type is usually fitted with the Rotax 503 or 582 engine.
The type is advertised as being able to be assembled in an average two-car garage. A number have been completed in this region, registered under AUF, later RAA, regulations and one example became 19-4381 (c/n 07-93-129) registered on 1 July 2005.
