History:
The Mini-Max was one of a range of low-cost ultralight aircraft designed and developed by Team Inc (Tennessee Engineering & Manufacturing) of Bradyville, Tennessee, and built in large numbers for the light aircraft market. Engines installed usually ranged in the 21 kw (28 hp) to 34 kw (45 hp) region, most being fitted with the Rotax 447, although the two-seat models had the 37 kw (50 hp) Rotax 503. Models in the series included the Max-103 with a 21 kw (28 hp) Rotax 277, the Mini-Max 1100R, Open Cockpit 1200Z, Enclosed Cockpit 1300Z, Hi-Max 1400Z, the latter being a high-wing model, with an enclosed cockpit, fitted with a 34 kw (45 hp) Zenoah G-50 engine, Open Cockpit 1500R, V-Max 1550V, Enclosed Cockpit 1600R, Eros 1650R, and Hi-Max 1700R.
The Mini-Max was first test flown in 1985, had load limits of +4.4 and –2.2 G, and conformed to FAR 23 structural requirements. It subsequently evolved into a variety of models. The Company built more than 2,000 examples of its designs and kits have been exported to more than 34 countries. Construction was of wood with fabric covering. In the US the design could be built under the experimental category or the International micro-light category.
A number of examples have been built in this area, most being registered under AUF / RAA regulations, including 10-1395 an 1100R; 10-1906 a 1600R; 10-3002 (c/n AB-131) a 1100; 10-3466 (c/n 101) a 1700; 10-7119 (c/n 878) an 1100R; 10-1429 an 1100R retired in December 2009, and 19-7637 (c/n AM1010002), an Aero-Max. One Mini-Max TD VH-AWR (c/n 660P) was registered in January 1999 at Inverell, NSW but it crashed on 15 February 1999.
