History:
The Aviatika AK-4 Kolibri was a European-designed light two-seat ultralight aircraft of composite construction with fabric covered movable surfaces and a V-tail. Power was supplied by a Rotax 618UL2V engine (with an electric starter) driving a five-blade propeller. The aircraft was of composite construction, had a tricycle undercarriage, and had electric flaps and trim. Fuel was carried in two wing tanks. The aircraft has been produced in at least two variants, the AK-3 with a Rotax 582 engine and the AK-4, with the fitted with a Rotax 618 engine and was also known as the Composite Technologies AK-4 Kolibri.
At least two examples of the series have been imported to Australia, one becoming 24-4530 (c/n 9) under RAA ultralight Regulations on 7 July 1997 and being nwithdrawn from use on 7 January 2011. Another (PH-2z8) was imported to The Oaks, NSW in 2007 but received some damage to the cockpit canopy during a hailstorm and required some repair work, it taking some time before a new canopy could be obtained for installation. Its ultimate fate is not known.
