History:
The Best Off Nynja was designed by Phillipe Prevot and was a logical development of the Company’s previous designs, the Skyranger and the Swift. It had the same tube-and-pin construction, using aluminium alloy tubes bolted together with brackets. This method of construction was said to have a number of advantages, including high strength-to-weight ratio. Unlike the Skyranger, which used fabric covering, the Nynja used composite panels, this producing cleaner aerodynamic lines. Further, the wing-tips were designed and wind-tunnel tested to reduce parasitic drag, and new cleaner engine cowls were designed.
The Nynja could be fitted with a variety of engines but was usually fitted with either the Rotax 912 of 60 kw (80 hp) or the 75 kw (100 hp) Rotax 912ULS. It had new improved seating, dual control columns and a central throttle control. A large lexan covered door was fitted on each side, this being hinged at the top and balanced with gas struts.
The Nynja was certified in a number of countries and the first Australian aircraft arrived during 2010. First registered on the General Aviation register rather than the RAA register was VH-ELJ (c/n 1007053) in March 2011 to the importers Best Off Aircraft Australia of Box Hill, VIC.
