History:
This aircraft was designed by prolific aircraft designer in Australia, Steven Cohen, in 1983. It is an extremely simple aircraft and, other than for the tail it was all straight tube and plate. The pilot’s seat was a simple hammock design. The wing was two tubes for spars and a third for the drag spar with glass ribs laid up from a simple mould. The wing covering was painted fabric. The fuse and tail took a weekend to build from scratch and the ribs were laid up over the following week. The powerplant was worked out during the following week and it was flown on the third weekend. Two more examples were built next in the same time span.
There were several engines which could be installed, these being the Fuji Robin (440cc) direct drive with Clifford van Pragg’s belt redrive; or the (250cc) Fuji Robin with redrive; or two (250cc) direct drive engines. It is said it was an extremely robust aircraft, fun to fly, quick to set-up and easy to trailer. simple and cheap to repair. It has been described as “a great paddock basher”. An enclosed pod for the pilot could be installed.
