History:
The Cooke Avian Adventurer was a single-engine two-seat high-wing light sport monoplane built in New Zealand by Mr Bruce Cooke. It was fitted with a tailwheel undercarriage and had a geared 104 kw (140 hp) Subaru EJ-20 engine converted for aviation use, being removed from a Subaru Legacy Brighton motor vehicle, driving a variable-pitch Ivoprop propeller through an Autoflight reduction gearbox.
The aircraft was built at Cambridge in Waipa District of Waikato and registered ZK-CKE² (c/n AV08-01) on 19 November 2008. It commenced its test flying program in 2011, making its first flight from Hamilton on 12 March 2011. It was a one-off design constructed of riveted alloy extrusions and fabric covered. It had dual controls and a luggage area behind the seats.
The registration was the second allotment of ZK-CKE, the first being the second Bennett PL-11 Airtruck built by Waitomo Aviation of Te Kuiti.
