History:
Messrs F A Evans and J M Chalmers in the early 1930s obtained some parts from the wreck of the Vickers Vellore which force landed at Cape Don, NT after engine trouble in May 1929. These parts were used in the construction of an all-metal mid-wing monoplane at Fremantle, WA, the construction of which began in 1935. Evans was a wireless operator on the vessel Kyogle and Chalmers was a motor mechanic. Little is known about the aircraft but it is believed to have been flown by Paul McGuinness at Maylands Aerodrome in March 1935.now
The aircraft was built of aluminium alloy wing spars and fuselage fittings from the Vickers Vellore. The longerons were of metal tubing and the undercarriage was fitted thereto. Fuselage bracing was achieved by using spokes from motor-cycle wheels. An Armstrong Siddeley Genet radial engine was obtained and installed. It is noted as having made at least four flights, one of the pilots being George Lewis. Subsequently Mr Evans had to leave to go to sea and the aircraft placed in storage and then broken up, the engine being used in a marine vessel.
Wingspan 10.66 m (35 ft); length 6.85 m (22 ft 6 in); max speed 185 km/h (115 mph); cruising speed 137 km/h (85 mph); stalling speed 56 km/h (35 mph).
