History:
The Corella 1 was a single-seat, high-wing monoplane with a single-engine and tailwheel undercarriage designed and built Glenda Faint. Mrs Faint was an Anaesthetic Technician and Theatre nurse and owned a Lea Kestrel. The designer of the Kestrel, Lea Kestrel, suggested she build an aircraft to to her own specifications. It was built at Seven Hills in Brisbane and William ‘Bill’ Whitney helped with the design and development. Her husband did the test flying when it was completed.
It is fitted with a Rotax 503 DCDI engine and has an electric starter and a battery. It was registered with the RAA as 19-3224. Cruising speed 139 km/h (86 mph); fuel capacity 45 litres (9.9 Imp gals).
