History:
Over the years development of the Hawker series of business and executive jet aircraft continued, one variant being the Series 900XP, which was a model which combined the airframe, operating weights and systems of the 850XP model, including the winglets, but which was fitted with the new Honeywell TFE731-50R turbofans which provided a five per cent reduction in fuel consumption and lower maintenance costs, the latter being available because of greater times between major periodic inspections. The new engines and lower fuel consumption provided a range of 5,187 km (3,223 miles), giving the aircraft sufficient fuel for non-stop trans-continental United States flights in both directions. Seating was for eight persons. The new engines provided 4,660 lbst but were flat rated, providing improved hot and high payload and range, airfield performance, and better climb performance.
The new series marked a change in the way the aircraft had their constructor’s numbers issued and, whereas before they received a de Havilland constructor’s number in sequence, the new models commenced as HA-1 for the 900XP series and HB-1 for the 750 series.
The first 900 series aircraft flew on 3 August 2006 and the first production aircraft was delivered in September 2007. By July 2010 128 had been delivered.
A couple of examples of the 900XP series have been registered in Australia, these being VH-EVF (c/n HA-0044 – ex N944XP) registered to Sundown Pastoral Company of Bonogin, QLD, which was exported on 25 October 2016 as N881JC; and VH-NKD (c/n HA-0064) registered to CML Aviation of Brisbane, QLD which was exported on 29 February 2016 as N313ZP.
