History:
The Bush Boar STOL 19-8471 was a one-off two-seat light sport aircraft designed and built by Robert Pavan. It commenced life as a Calair CA-21 Skyfox and was registered 55-0608 on 5 November 1990. It was extensively modified to have short take-off and landing capability and was fitted with all-terrain tyres permitting it to land almost anywhere, particularly on beaches, river beds and private paddock airstrips. Mr Pavan was known in Queensland for building light aircraft and prior to the construction of this aircraft had completed 12 other aircraft designs.
This aircraft was the culmination of his own designs and was registered 19-8471 (c/n 21011) on 4 February 2014. Mr Pavan lived in the Yandina area and regularly flew the aircraft in that area. However, he died in the crash of his Jabiru aircraft in April 2015 and the aircraft was placed on the market for sale as part of his estate, the aircraft at that time in mid-2016 having completed 153 hours.
It is reported the aircraft used some of the fuselage of a Skyfox Kitfox Mach 3 kit but was fitted with a larger tail, elevator and rudder. The wings basically came from those fitted to an ICP Savannah and the Robeye undercarriage legs were lengthened and strengthened. Engine installed was the Jabiru 3300A unit driving a three-blade Rob Patroney composite propeller.
Further research reveals that the airframe number of the aircraft (CA21011) is from a Calair CA-21 Skyfox, which basically was an Australian development of the Denney Kitfox series. This fuselage was originally Skyfox 55-0608, so it seems this was the fuselage used in the construction of the Bush Boar. On the RAA register the aircraft was listed as a Homebuilt Pavan Bush Boar STOL.
