History:
The PT-2 is one of a series of light aircraft produced by Rag Wing Plans Service of Craytonville Airfield, Honea Path, South Carolina, USA aimed at the ultralight market. The PT-2 is described as a pilot trainer with dual side-by-side seating and is available in single-seat or two-seat form. More than 1,000 kits have been sold around the world and a number have been imported to this region. Power plants in the 39 kw (52 hp) to 56 kw (75 hp) range may be installed. It may be fitted with a tricycle or tailwheel undercarriage and is available in kit form.
One of the first completed in this region was ZK-DBC² (c/n 2003-BC-1), which has the HAPI Volkswagen conversion engine, being registered on 26 September 2003 and making its first flight on 3 April 2004. This aircraft made a test flight which was not particularly successful and the registration was cancelled on 23 April 2009. The owner in due course sold the aircraft and it was moved from its base at Dargaville to Te Kawa where the new owner commenced a rebuild, substantially altering the shape of the fuselage. Others are thought to be in the course of construction. Other aircraft in the Company’s range include the Midwing Sport, the Motor Bipe, and the RW-5 Heath Replica.
