History:
The S-17 Stinger is a single-seat high-wing light sporting aircraft with a pusher engine produced by Rans Aircraft in Hays, Kansas in the United States and is supplied in kit form. It has a 4130 welded steel cockpit cage and an aluminium boom tube. Two variants of the Rotax series of engines are available, the 31 kw (42 hp) 447 or the 39 kw (52 hp) 503 driving a 172.7 cm (68 in) IVO three-blade propeller through a 1:2.58 gear reduction. Kit construction is a simple bolt and rivet process. Dacron sail cloth body socks are used to cover the wings, control system and tail sections.
At least one example has been completed in this region, this being ZK-EEE³ (c/n 0405051) in New Zealand, owned by Mr Burt in Queenstown and based at Rangitata Island.
