History:
The ASW-29 was one of a series of self-launched gliders produced in West Germany and it was produced in a number of variants. It was usually powered by a 13-kw (18-hp) two-cylinder Solo engine which drove a 1.2-m (3 ft 9 in) propeller, the engine being used for maintaining height but not for self-launching. The glider was of all composite construction. A number of variants of the design have been imported to this region, including the ASW-29-18E.
