History:
The Jillaroo was one of a series of ultralight aircraft designed by the late Colin Winton, others including the Brumby, Jackaroo, Sportsman and Grasshopper. They had a variety of engines including examples from the Rotax series, Hirth, Zenoah and Fuji Robin.
The Jillaroo, first introduced in 1988, was a single-seat ultralight aircraft which, like the Jackaroo, received some development during its production life, the Mks 1 and 2, the latter introduced in 1989, being powered by a belt-drive Robin engine of 433 cc, whereas the Mk 3, which was introduced in 1997, had a Rotax 503 engine driving through a 1:1 gear box. The aircraft had a mid-mounted wing and, whereas in the Mk 1 the cockpit was open, in the Mk 2 and Mk 3 it was quite often completed with a canopy over the cockpit. Registrations have been noted under RAA regulations, including 10-0016.
