History:
The Wolfpitts Pro is a highly refined variant of the Pitts S-1S series of single-seat high-performance aerobatic biplanes. Starting from scratch, Steven Wolf of Wolf Aircraft of Leesburg, Florida in the United States designed and built the Wolfpitts Pro which has Wolfpitts wings with aerodynamically boosted ailerons, aerodynamic balanced squared wing tips, re-designed stronger spars, a re-shaped tail, flush canopy rails, carbon fibre annular inlet cowl and rod type undercarriage. This Company specialised in custom building and designing aerobatic aircraft. Modifications could be made to an existing aircraft, or it could build a totally new design to the customer’s requirements.
Two set of wings were designed to be fitted to the Pitts S-1 or S-2 series, these being the Wolf Pro 4 with four ailerons, and the Wolf Pro 8 for high-performance airshow style performance, these wings being unique in that the inboard set of ailerons act independently of the outboard and the ailerons span the entire length of the wing. The aircraft is available in completely built form from ground up from the Company. It is usually registered as an S.1-11-X.
The basic wings are provided as a wing-kit and this model is aimed at aircraft fitted with a four-cylinder Lycoming engine driving a constant speed propeller. The kit includes CNC cut tubing ready for welding, or can be obtained already welded. Also available is a high-performance tail group, rudder pedals, control system, cabanes and a sliding canopy. The new ailerons are power boosted, the rudder and elevator are re-shaped and oversized for more control authority, a new streamline carbon fibre cowling has annular cooling, a fixed-pitch propeller can be inst alled, and a re-designed streamlined undercarriage can be fitted.
Steven Wolf has also been involved in the design of other aerobatic aircraft, including the Wolf Sampson II and the Wolf Cyclone. First of the series seen in this region was a Pro which became VH-PVB (c/n WPP-001) to Bennet Aviation of Redhead, NSW on 25 June 2014, followed by VH-PVX (c/n UB001) fitted with a Lycoming AEIO-540 SER engine, also registered to Bennet Airshows of Cardiff, NSW.
